Eftersom vi haft lite konfusa situationer när det gäller darkness/invisibility så har jag benat ut reglerna lite för oss, så vi undviker för mycket regelfunderingar mitt i combat.


DARKNESS/BLINDNESS/INVISIBILITY

COMBAT

There are two “levels” of how aware a blinded creature are to his opponents: located (“over there somewhere”) and pinpointed (exact square). In order to attack an opponent, a blinded creature must first pinpoint the opponent in order to attack the right square.

- A blinded creature who has not pinpointed his opponent randomly attacks any square within reach for melee attacks. For range attacks, randomly determine which direction the blinded creature is facing then attack the closest target in that direction (might include allies).

- A blind creature can use Perception to locate an opponent (free action). DC equal to opponents Stealth check or 0 if the opponent doesn’t use Stealth. If the DC is beaten by 20, the opponent is pinpointed (note that total concealment still applies).

- A blinded creature can grope with his hands or weapon to find opponents close to him by making a melee touch attack into two adjacent squares (standard action). If the opponent is in one of the two squares, roll to hit against the opponents AC and a 50 % miss chance. If hit, the opponent is pinpointed (no dmg though).

- If an opponent makes a melee attack against the blinded creature, its location becomes pinpointed. If the opponent has greater reach than 5 feet, it is only located, not pinpointed and therefore not susceptible to an attack. If the blinded creature is hit by a ranged attack, he only knows the general direction of the opponent.

NOTE: if a pinpointed opponent moves, its location is again unknown.

SCENT: Can help detect the presence of creatures but in direct combat the only thing that applies is that a blinded creature with the Scent ability automatically pinpoints opponents adjacent to him (within 5 feet).


OTHER MODIFIERS

A character operating in darkness counts as blinded. For this, the following rules apply:

 All opponents have total concealment (50% miss chance), even if opponent is pinpointed.

 A blinded creature loose DEX bonus to AC.

 A blinded creature suffers an additional -2 to AC.

 Must make DC 10 Acrobatics check to move faster than half speed. Failing means falling prone.

 All attacks that rely on precision don’t work (such as sneak attacks).

 A blinded creature suffers a -4 Perception checks, as well as many DEX and STR based skills, including all with am armour check penalty.
